Biztech ERP started in 1993 as a one-man operation. Three decades later, we're still small by choice — because when you call, you get us, not a queue.

Who We Are

A family business that
does serious IT.

Biztech ERP is a father-and-son managed service provider based in Lorraine, Port Elizabeth. Jurgen founded the company in 1993 — back when "IT support" meant setting up Novell NetWare and teaching people how to use WordPerfect.

Today, the business splits roughly 65/35 between IT managed services and Sage 300 ERP consulting. André handles the IT infrastructure side — servers, networks, security, hardware — while Jurgen focuses on Sage 300 implementations and support. Colby, our junior technician, handles day-to-day support and is building his skills across both divisions.

Why We Stay Small

We could hire more people and chase bigger contracts. We choose not to — because our clients value the fact that when they call, they talk to someone who knows their setup, knows their staff, and can fix their problem without being briefed for 20 minutes first. That's the advantage of working with a small team that's been around for decades.

Where We Work

We're based in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), Eastern Cape. Our clients are mostly within the Nelson Mandela Bay metro, though we support some remotely across the province. For server and network work, we're on-site. For Sage 300 and general support, we're usually a phone call and a TeamViewer session away.

Three decades
of evolution.

From Novell NetWare to Hyper-V, from Accpac to Sage 300 — how the business has grown alongside the technology.

1993

Founded in PE

Jurgen Potgieter starts the business as a solo IT consultant in Port Elizabeth. The early work is Novell NetWare server setups, DOS-based accounting packages, and desktop support for local businesses.

Late 1990s

Windows & Accpac Era

The industry shifts from Novell to Windows NT. Jurgen moves clients onto Windows-based networks and starts working with Accpac (now Sage 300) for accounting and inventory management.

Early 2000s

Sage 300 Takes Shape

Accpac rebrands to Sage 300. Jurgen becomes an accredited Sage reseller and consultant, building the ERP side of the business into a significant revenue stream alongside IT services.

2010s

Virtualisation & Cloud

The decade of virtualisation. Clients consolidate multiple physical servers onto Hyper-V hosts. Microsoft 365 starts replacing on-premise Exchange. The shift to cloud begins, but most PE businesses keep their core infrastructure on-premise.

2019

André Joins Full-Time

André comes on board as IT Consultant and Technical Director, taking over the managed services and infrastructure side. The business becomes a proper father-and-son operation — Jurgen on ERP, André on IT.

2024

Team Grows

Colby Posthumus joins as a junior technician — handling day-to-day support, learning the infrastructure stack, and providing capacity for the growing client base. The team moves to formal operations from Jomar Place in Lorraine.

Founded Biztech in 1993. Over 30 years in IT, with the last 20+ focused on Sage 300 implementations and support. Jurgen handles all ERP-related work — from initial scoping to year-end processing. If your business runs on Sage, he's your contact.

Runs the IT managed services division. Specialises in Windows Server, Hyper-V virtualisation, networking (MikroTik, Ubiquiti), cybersecurity (ESET Protect), and Veeam backup. André is your primary contact for anything infrastructure-related.

Junior Technician

The newest member of the team. Colby handles day-to-day support calls, hardware deployments, and on-site visits. He's building experience across the full stack — from cabling and desktops to server maintenance and backup monitoring.
